The Challenge
To increase search engine results and website traffic through keyword research, search engine optimisation and sticky content. What does all this mean?
Adelaide Alfresco Blinds transform outdoor areas into alfresco living spaces by installing cafe style alfresco blinds. They had three objectives in mind when they approached Salt Digital.
- Generate better page rankings with the four major search engines to drive more traffic to their website
- Visually demonstrate the unique features of their products by using video content on the website
- Maximise the effectiveness of the website by providing an accurate online quoting system to qualify incoming leads
The Solution
We undertook to completely redesign the website and optimise it for search engine results, program an online quoting system, as well as produce a sales/promotional video for use on the website, at trade shows and by the sales staff in the showroom and on site.

The Process
After extensive research into the keywords and keyphrases that people use to search for these kinds of products using Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask, we developed a script for the video and a list of keywords that would be used throughout the website.
Then we redesigned the website adhering to modern web standards and included a full content management system for easy updates into the future. We also included a blog for detailing future projects and keeping the site content fresh for the search engines. Using our knowledge of various web programming languages, we provided an online quoting system that allows the user to enter their information and get an instant estimate. Head office is notified of every enquiry allowing easy development of a database of high quality incoming leads. This saves Adelaide Alfresco Blinds and their customers time and money.
Our next step was to capture the unique features of the blinds and showcase the ease of use for potential customers. With our script in hand, we travelled to several locations and shot video footage as well as stills photography to compile into a short sales/promotional video.
Back in the edit suite we pulled all our footage together along with a voice over narration and some unique music we had composed specifically for Adelaide Alfresco Blinds.

The Results
Within two days of going live, Adelaide Alfresco Blinds were achieving number one, two and three positions with Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask under the desired search terms. Furthermore, after a month of analysing the website traffic we discovered that users were staying on the website for over 5 minutes on average and only 12% were leaving the website from the same page they arrived (known as a bounce rate). In comparison, similar websites in the same industry were receiving much fewer visitors who were not hanging around very long and most of whom were bouncing off the site from the same page they arrived.
The ultimate indicator was an increase in sales of over 100% for the December quarter compared with the previous year.
